I’ve always been fascinated by faces.
They show and hide so much.
They are the gatekeeper, the mirrors, the doorways to who we are.
I was looking for a theme that I’d be inspired to paint daily. So for the past few weeks I’ve challenged myself to paint more faces. I love finding an expression that shows strength and vulnerably at the same time. When I paint faces it feels like I’m searching the page with my paints to find what’s hidden. Using the brush I then slowly caress it to full beauty. To let this process happen freely and joyfully I need to get to a place between control and letting go. An illusive place within myself. It’s a wonderfully frustrating process.
